I think sleep was a big issue for me. I was chronically sleep deprived for some time and particularly after long, intense practice sessions. The longer I practiced during the day, the less I slept that night.
It was the same for me in the months leading up to the worst of my FD symptoms in 2005: chronic lack of sleep due to noisy neighbours, and high levels of general stress – the two going hand in hand. So, although lack of sleep in itself won’t cause FD, it seems that it is an important factor.
