Article published!

After a year of work on this piece, I’m happy to announce that our article is finally published in the prestigious Frontiers in Psychology Journal.

Although this research is not about Musician’s Focal Dystonia, it is directly related to it. As I discussed in earlier blog posts, the onset of MFD is influenced by many factors. Among these, environmental factors seem to have a very strong impact (my research on the topic will be published soon in another peer-reviewed journal), such as music education or the stress in the workplace.

Here, my co-authors and I looked at the work environment of 1600 musicians and compared it to other professions, and our results clearly show that our situation is far from ideal. These musicians felt that they are less supported and acknowledged (both financially and emotionally) than people doing other jobs, and perceived their jobs very demanding.
